MARA meeting of 6 March 2008

 

1902 President Hudock welcomes everyone. Pat Lane & Nina arrive with perforated targets!

 

1904-5 Introductions - see attendance roster. Some members were recognized for announcements:

 

            Joe Lowenthall - Delta Club Advanced license class has 6 students. He thanks Pat for antennas and fee lines. Class starts Tuesday 11 March for Technician at Baptist Collierville. ARES meeting topic is WINLINK, and the Command Van will be visiting 1830-1915. There is an equestrian event, ops needed. Two shifts 0600-1200, 1200-1800 Saturday (10 March 2008?). Joe gets two voluteers, AJ4EM and another.

 

            Ham Hilliard - Armed Forces Day on Mothers' Day weekend. Near Marrianna, AR at Huxtable Pumping Station. Cross-band operation, presentation next meeting.

 

President speaks on Secretary's absence, Ham & Lance move and second a motion to postpone reading of the January meeting minutes.

 

1918     John's Treasurer's Report, to be attached. David and Ham moved and seconded to accept report. The ayes have it.

David proposed club reimbursement for expenses incurred by members for the club's benefit.

 

President presents a tower job, for good weather. Forty foot, we will be paid to remove. We could net $400.

 

Union City Hamfest - Tony and Lance are going up. Early Saturday morning, about 2:35 travel time. Will try to locate all Memphian tables together.

 

1929     Tony Brignole: Meeting here next month (La Costa Homeowners' Clubhouse). Move the webpage. Purge email list April 1. Tony receives some email address updates. Field Day operation with Delta, Tristate, and MARA together, June 28-29. Ribs and butts and shoulders at the Homeowners' Clubhouse. (Don't block the swimmers from the pool.)

 

Randy Vorheeses and the software order. We needed to change (add) an emergency reponder organization classification..

 

Freefest: 84 tables, responses from 50 of the last year's 80. 6000 cards to the mailing list, 250 mile radius. Flyers will be taken to the Union City Hamfest. Prize donations from several organizations.

1958-2013 Break.

 

Henry Leggett: 200 mile separation from other sanctioned hamfests on the same date. Jonesboro, AR is not 200 miles from Union City, TN. ARRL Board Meeting: have awards for perople throughout the country. Henry handles technical awards.

 

Pat Lane and Tony Brignole, come forward. Henry read the award for Pat. Henry read the award for Tony.

 

Henry spoke on the structure of the ARRL, with PowerPoint presentation.
